Given the details surrounding charlie – he’s humanoid, doesn’t look like the diver, the missing chunk of his ear.
i think charlie is modeled after someone the diver knows/knew once, and if they are to be his confidence… charlie might be the confidence the diver wishes he had, but hasn’t mustered yet.
