Alpha Fund Donation Drive!

by Jon Cairns on September 6, 2012

Alpha Fund Donation Drive Header

A couple weeks from now we’ll be releasing a revamped store. We’ve got some new products in from the manufacturers! That means I’m consequently a new dimension of broke, but the products are cool, so I think it was worth it. I would, however, love to give you guys a chance to get them in your hands without having to see us at a convention while offsetting some of the costs through this Alpha Fund Donation Drive. Since I’m asking for donations, though, I’d like to offer you guys special gifts–some of which won’t be available for purchase in the new store when it relaunches–for donating. The drive will run from Today, until the end of September. The payment is handled through PayPal, but you don’t need to have a PayPal account. A simple credit or debit card will work just fine.

Kilo Line Break

Why should you support Alpha Flag? Because it means more cool products–I spend most of what I earn on the comic, so I’d like to be able to get new, cool things for you guys (and for myself, too. One day I’ll have my own real life Foxtrot!). The more you donate, the more donation gifts you can choose. It’s à la carte, so you pay what you want, and you choose what gifts you want. When you make a donation, we’ll both be alerted via email, and I’ll contact you to find out what you would like me to send you.

Kilo Line Break

When you donate $5 or more, I’ll mail you a postcard with a quick Alpha Flag bust sketch. Every physical gift will have an associated dollar value above that, so to receive something in addition to the postcard, add the additional dollar amount to the donation. The $5 postcard donation will cover the shipping of your physical goods–and you’ll still get the postcard sketch!

This is going to be a long post, so I’ll cut it here.

Comikaze 2012, Sept. 15-16, LA Convention Center

by Jon Cairns on September 4, 2012

Hey guys! Renee and I are going to be at Comikaze in LA, at the LA Convention Center on September 15th-16th. Alpha Flag has an Artist Alley table. We’ll be selling physical copies of issue 1 and 2, some cool watercolor sketches Renee and I worked on together, and some other neat stuff that’ll be announced here on Thursday! It’s going to be great, and we’d love it if you stopped by to say hi and maybe even buy some stuff! Tickets are $20 a day, or $30 for both days.

We’ll be at booth number 419, which is here:

Alpha Flag Livestream this Sunday

by Jon Cairns on August 3, 2012

Renee and I are going to be drawing (me) and watercoloring (her) sketches we’ll be selling at upcoming convention appearances this Sunday afternoon (PST). There’s no set plan yet, but it should be a few hours long and either fun, or boring, depending on how you feel about watching people slowly do art on camera! I think she said it’ll be a webcam pointed at a desk upon which we’ll be traditional media-ing up a storm.

That’ll be on the Alpha Flag Livestream this Sunday, August the 5th. We’ll send out twitter messages for when it’s going down.

More smaller bits of info are to be found on the fledgling Bravo Bravo forum. I’d love it if you joined!

Here’s an example of the stuff we did during an earlier sketch/color jam:

Bravo Bravo, an Alpha Flag Bulletin Board

by Jon Cairns on July 1, 2012

Bravo Bravo

With how much you guys talk to each other in the comments, I figured it would be good to give you an official space to expand on those conversations (but feel free to comment on the pages as much as you like! Renee and I encourage it) as well as off topic anythings that you want to talk about. It’s very much a work in progress, so it’s probably going to evolve a bit in the upcoming months.

You can navigate to it at the BB link in the menu bar. You’ll need to make an account, but it’s pretty painless and instant–and I think it even crosses over with the comments, so you can have a unified identity.

So feel free to use it as much or as little as you want. I’ll see you there.

Charlie Foxtrot: The End

by Jon Cairns on June 27, 2012

That marks the end of Charlie Foxtrot, the short aside. Renee’s back on coloring duty and Echo 01 is queued to post itself at Midnight (PST) on Thursday the 28th. All is well! CF was fun for me, so I hope you guys liked it too since I might get the itch to do it again in the future. Maybe using a story with a little more meat, though.

Well, anyway, I’ll move the files around tomorrow after Echo 01 posts so it’s in a better read order. Echo is only 9 pages. It’ll be a nice change of pace from the last two 13 page chapters. The Foxtrot chapter is going to be a doozy, length-wise, but I’m happy to report that I have secured a really cool art friend to do the cover for it. I’m excited to see what she does.

Edit: I moved the files back in the archive to make room for the Echo chapter. If you missed the last page or two of Charlie Foxtrot, you can read it from the beginning here.
